| “Wrangell-St Elias National Park is one of the last wilderness areas the size of Switzerland. It’s packed with high peaks and glaciers. Fly in on a bush plane – the views are truly inspiring and so are the characters you’ll meet in McCarthy, a true frontier town… ” Kathleen Moeller, Sales Executive, DTW |
We offer the perfect self drive holiday providing you the opportunity to experience the best of Alaska's scenic highways. The itinerary also features three of Alaska's spectacular national parks! You’ll travel along the Denali National Park access road, arguably the greatest wildlife tour in America, as well as a journey along the Denali Highway in the shadow of majestic Mount McKinley. Wrangell-St. Elias National Park is without doubt a highlight of this comprehensive self-drive through the wide vistas of Alaska and is not to be missed!
This particular park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 for the spectacular glacier and icefield landscapes as well as for the importance of grizzly bears, caribou and Dall sheep habitat. Other wildlife found in Wrangell-St Elias include elusive wolves, beavers, bison and moose – be sure to bring plenty of film/camera memory as the park affords bountiful opportunities to take amazing photos!
Our 11-day Alaska Scenic Byways trip starts from £754.00 per person based on four people sharing (ground arrangements and small 4x4 car hire) with departures between 28 August – 5 September 2007 (accompanying flights are quoted on a tailor-made basis).
