The Living Planet recently took eight geography/geology teachers on an inspection trip to see the wonders of Namibia. They were in awe of the amazing landscape that had been created. The petrified forest was just incredible, it looked like a tree, had rings like a tree, was a 30 metre long pine tree lying on the ground but was in fact fossilized stone.
Highlights included hunting for garnets at the side of the road, a marine cruise to see the unique benguela dolphins and leather backed turtles. The savannas, deserts, sand dunes and the rolling fog coming in off the skeleton coast all made this a wonderful trip. Combine this with the wildlife at Etosha, lions, elephants, leopard, giraffes – the only thing missing was the rhino that proved illusive.
