Milford Wilderness
Christchurch to Queenstown, 11 days, from £1494 per person.

This holiday gives you a great combination of cycling and walking amidst the spectacular southern lakes and fiords of New Zealand. The emphasis is on exploring your surroundings – slightly more on the cycling side, but when you do have a chance to walk, the scenery you’ll encounter is rarely rivalled in its intensity and drama.

From Christchurch explore Lake Tekapo, Lake Ohau and the Mt. Cook National Park. Then, it’s over the Lindis Pass to Lake Wanaka, Glenorchy and Te Anau, the hidden gems of the Southern Lakes. Now it’s time for one of the highlights of the trip - an overnight cruise on Milford Sound, before ending the tour at the alpine resort of Queenstown – all in all a tempting selection from a menu of scenic delicacies.

The cycling is mostly at recreational level, with the option of some single tracks for those who would like to stretch themselves a little further. The great thing about this kind of trip is the flexibility to cycle as much, or as little, as you feel like on any particular day. So what are you waiting for?
