Iceland has once again surpassed all expectations demonstrating for the fourteenth consecutive year why it’s the number one choice for educational visits. After all where else in Europe can students swim in a warm geothermal lake, enjoy the sensation of a glacier waterfall and climb an active volcano, all in the same day! It’s clear to see why Iceland stands by its reputation as the land of ‘fire and ice’ and why it is renowned worldwide for being a ‘living and interactive geography lesson’ in the making. Students and teachers return year after year having been caught by the Icelandic spell.
Iceland’s geothermal springs, magnificent icecaps and lava fields present students with a unique opportunity to appreciate how our planet has been shaped. Summer or winter, astounding scenery and a great range of cultural attractions will guarantee you an unforgettable stay that will have you planning your next trip just as soon as the last one has finished.

CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
As one of the UK’s leading organisers of educational visits we appreciate the time and effort that goes into planning a trip. As well as taking the hassle out of the planning we want to help you progress in your career by giving you the opportunity to enhance your Continuing Professional Development. By taking part in a small group adventure, led by a geologist visiting the wonders of Iceland, you will acquire a new perspective and confidence in your subject teaching that will enrich your understanding and inspire your pupils. To find out more how you can benefit from this amazing opportunity please call our specialist team who will be happy to discuss your requirements and ensure you receive a place on a departure in March or October 2008. |
BUDDY SYSTEM
We appreciate that some smaller schools may find it difficult to fill the number of places required for a large group departure. In response to this Discover the World are launching a new ‘buddy system’ which aims to match schools and students sharing a similar profile to a particular departure. Teachers benefit as they can share arrangements with another school and pupils benefit from overseas travel as well as making new friends. All in all a win-win situation. |

Until recently Antarctica was solely the domain of scientists and explorers. While scientists continue to make startling revelations about this remarkable place so too, do adventurous travellers. Under carefully controlled conditions, teachers and students from a number of schools throughout the UK will have the opportunity to discover Antarctica’s extraordinary wildlife and scenery, reaping the rewards of an expedition voyage in the world’s last true wilderness area.
