Antarctic Peninsula

-13 Night Extended Voyage
Polar Voyages

The Antarctic Peninsula offers the most dramatic scenery and the greatest variety of wildlife in Antarctica. During the southern summer, large areas are ice-free, providing the breeding ground for huge numbers of birds and seals. Truly amazing photographic opportunities are afforded from curious penguins and seals, hauled out on the ice floes.

Encounters with great whales, including humpback, minke and fin, can also be memorable but what strikes many visitors above all else is the vastness and remoteness of the place.

Set foot on the great ‘White Continent’, whose glaciers calve the colossal icebergs that drift among offshore islands and waterways and experience the essence of Antarctica.

Due to popular demand Discover the World have extended the flagship ‘Antarctica Peninsula’ tour for one very special sailing on the 27th January 2008. This unique sailing now comprises 13 nights onboard the modern ‘Professor Molchanov’ research vessel. Built in the early 80’s the vessel has been ice-strengthened giving the opportunity to sail much farther south than most other vessels. A large bridge and plenty of good open-deck viewing areas ensure maximum visibility at all times.

  • Antarctic Peninsula and Beyond
The Antarctic Peninsula is regarded by many visitors as one of the most beautiful places on earth. Jagged mountain peaks, clad in glaciers flow down to the sea and spill into mid air from an altitude of hundreds of feet or more. Huge open skies, enormous icebergs, low clouds, sudden weather changes and constant surprises from the hugely abundant wildlife you see will keep you in a constant state of awe.
  • Classic Antarctica
Over a hundred years after the initial exploration of the continent, journeying to Antarctica still feels like stepping off the edge of the known world. Voyage to the spit of land which points northward to South America and you’ll encounter a mysterious and magnificent landscape that is for the most part still beyond civilization’s reach.
