| Day 1: |
Auckland-Waitomo-Rotorua
Pick up from your hotel and head south by scheduled coach through the Bombay Hills to the pasturelands of the Waikato. Passing Hamilton, you soon reach the Waitomo Caves, where you take an enchanting subterranean boat cruise to the famous glow worm grotto. After lunch (included) continue to Rotorua, New Zealand’s acclaimed geothermal area where you stay for two nights. |
| Day 2: |
Exploring Rotorua
This morning you take a scheduled sightseeing tour to visit some of Rotorua’s best attractions, including the Whakarewarewa geothermal reserve, the native garden at Paradise Valley Springs and the entertaining and informative Agrodome Sheep Show. The afternoon is free to explore on your own and perhaps enjoy a thermal bath. |
| Day 3: |
Rotorua-Christchurch
Transfer to the airport for the flight to Christchurch. On arrival transfer to your accommodation in the ‘Garden City’. Note: the flight is not included in tour price and is normally booked in conjunction with your flights to and from New Zealand. |
| Day 4: |
Christchurch-Dunedin
Cross the Canterbury Plains to the seaside town of Timaru and Oamaru, from where the train continues down the rugged coast to Dunedin, an elegant city of Edwardian architecture with a distinct Scottish flavour. Transfer to your hotel on arrival. |
| Day 5: |
Dunedin-Te Anau
The morning is at leisure for you to explore the city and perhaps visit historic Olveston House. Depart by scheduled coach and travel through South Otago and Southland until the mountains of Fiordland come into view. Te Anau is a lovely lakeside town with stunning views. You will be dropped off at your hotel on arrival. |
