Passport & Visa
British citizens do not need a visa to visit New Zealand for a stay of up to six months. A full British Passport is required and it should be valid for at least three months beyond your intended stay.
 

Airport Tax
An airport tax of NZ$25 per person is payable on international flights on departure.

 

Goods & Service Tax
This is applicable to all purchases and services in New Zealand and is currently 12.5%. Any arrangements you book and pay for in advance through Discover New Zealand already include GST (unless otherwise indicated).

 

Time Zones
Situated very close to the International Date Line, New Zealand is 12 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time.

 

Currency
The New Zealand dollar NZ$ (NZ$1=100 cents) is found in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50 & $100 notes and coins of $1, $2 and $5 and 10, 20 and 50 cents.

 
Tipping
Hotel porters appreciate a small tip and if you are very happy with the service in a restaurant you could add 10% to the bill. There are no service charges added to bills, except in certain establishments on public holidays.

Climate & Seasons
New Zealand’s seasons are the reverse of those of the Northern Hemisphere.

The average summer temperature ranges between 20-30°C and between 10-15° C during the winter.
