Introduction

Study Topics – Physical & Human Geography | Cross-curricular

Morocco is a land of great contrasts and perfect for a human and physical geography trip.

Explore the vibrant city of Marrakesh to experience the sights and sounds of the largest souks in the country and delve into the local history by visiting the Saadian Tombs, the El Badii Palace and the Medersa Ben Youssef (Koranic School). Venture to the spectacular High Atlas Mountains - a must for all geographers and geologists visiting Morocco! It is here your students can study plate tectonics, fold mountain formations, volcanic rocks and uplifting sedimentary strata, both tilted and folded, all of which are clearly evident in this rugged landscape.

Discover the Sahara, the largest desert on earth, which covers much of the South East of Morocco where your students will explore dramatic dunes and also have the chance to observe the traditional communities that surround the desert.

Wherever you travel in Morocco you will be presented with an abundance of subject matter to inspire the next generation of geographers!
