Introduction to Spain - Catalonia
Study Topics - Edexcel GCE Geography
The coastal region of north eastern Catalonia, known as the Costa Brava which translates as Rugged Coast, is a highly desirable study destination offering a range of settings for geography fieldwork unrivalled in Europe.
The city of Barcelona presents a fascinating case study of major themes of urban growth and development. Field studies in the unspoiled national parks that surround the city include coastal management, river processes, dune ecosystems, limestone and volcanic landscapes.
While parts of the Costa Brava coastline have lent itself to tourist developments, other parts have retained a more traditional atmosphere and there are many untouched areas where geographers are able to appreciate the diverse landscape.
Due to the sheer number of the opportunities the region offers we are able to provide groups with an impressive range of study tours that compliment course work and enhance all participants’ understanding of the subject.
