Situated near the western edge of the Alaska Range, Winterlake Lodge offers seclusion and spectacular scenery, in the southern boundary of Denali National Park. Views of the Trimble Glacier and the beginnings of the Rainy Pass are visible from the lake.
Winterlake Lodge offers five guest cabins, nestled along a mile-long lake that is home to loons, swans, bears, moose and arctic grayling. The main lodge sits near the middle of the property and offers a comfortable setting for relaxing by the fire and viewing the lake through the large picture windows. The main lodge also houses a dining area and large kitchen for the preparation of award-winning Alaskan regional cuisine. Facilities include a large meditation yoga room, hot tub on the main deck with a view of the Tordrillo Mountains in the summer and northern lights in winter, and a wood burning sauna. Wireless internet access is also available in the main lodge.
Guests can enjoy opportunities for hiking and wildlife viewing with many species of Alaskan birds often seen nearby, as well as a variety of wildflowers and berries that are rarely seen. As the lodge is located on the Iditarod Trail it is also used as a check point during the famous Iditarod Dog Sled Race every March. Kayaks and boats are available to explore the lake and the property offer daily exploration opportunities. Activities may include narrated walks, hiking, canoeing and kayaking; watching wild birds, and berry picking. There is also an on-site helicopter used to take guests on flightseeing tours, fishing or glacier trekking. In the evenings, after a day of exciting activities, the lodge often have lakeside barbecues of Alaska Salmon and King Crab.
This remote Alaskan lodge can be reached by floatplane, helicopter or boat.
