A collection of 45 summerhouses, the Minniborgir Cottages are found in the isolated Hveragerdi/Selfoss area, only 75km from Reykjavik. A spectacular region of fishing, hiking and traditional Icelandic horse riding, this is an understandably popular area for Icelanders to take their summer breaks. Conveniently located close to many of the south-west's major highlights, those travelling on a self drive will be well placed to explore the area and relax in the comfort of your own cottage.
Two sizes of cottage are for hire, the medium-sized houses with facilities for 6 and the larger, two-story cabins with space for 9. All cabins include a kitchenette/lounge area, shower, TV/video and radio/CD player as well as large verandas. Linens can be provided on request. Each house offers thermal heating and is carefully insulated, making them high-quality 'all year round' houses. The thermal hot pools located next to the houses are always ready for use.
The large cottages also include a private, outdoor hot tub and barbeque and an extra shower. For larger parties, there are two clusters of 7 medium-cabins, each group railed off with high-timber fences which allow your group a degree of privacy. You will have a choice of sharing one hot tub between your group, creating a great party atmosphere, or having one hot tub per house. At the centre of each cluster is a gathering house, which offers a kitchen with a large refrigerator, dish washer, tableware and TV. Breakfasts, lunches and necessities for a barbeque party can be arranged as well.
