Cross-country Skiing (Icehotel)
Duration 2hrs 45mins
Departs Nov - Apr
A skill that is not nearly as challenging as it appears and a mode of travel that is popular in many northern areas, this activity by cross country ski is a good introduction for beginners to the sport.
Pulled by a snowmobile sledge, the guide drives you across the frozen River Torne to the village of Poikkijärvi. After an introduction to the technique, guests are free to try their hand at gliding over the specially made tracks which cut through the surrounding wilderness.
A peaceful way to explore the snow-covered north, the trails are perfectly suited to those still new to the sport and carry guests into the rich emerald forests which coat Sweden's Lapland. While you are out on the trails, your guide will prepare a camp fire along with hot drinks to warm you on your return.
After returning to the Icehotel, you can keep the skis for the rest of the day and carry on practising on the frozen river or in the surrounding forest.
