A small and friendly hotel with great views over the snowy fells, offering accommodation in rooms, cabins and suites this is a fantastic place from which to experience Finnish Lapland. With a restaurant, bar and lounge on site, plus the Arctic Spa with heated pool, saunas and jacuzzis, there is plenty of space in which to relax after a day exploring the area.
The range of accommodation features a small hotel as well as a selection of cosy log cabins and fell top cottages. The two storey Iso-Syote Hotel has en suite twin rooms with fantastic views of the scenic surrounds, and there are traditional semi-detached log cabins nestled amongst the trees or larger cottages on the top of the fell with far reaching views. A very popular choice is the luxurious Eagles View Suite - on two floors the suite features a lounge and sitting area with cosy fireplace, private sauna, jacuzzi and stunning panoramic views from the hill top overlooking the snowy fjells beyond. And new for the 2016-17 season will be Aurora Suites, situated in the main building they are split on two floors with large window for aurora viewings and its own jacuzzi on the balcony.

There are 20 traditional and sturdy Kelo-style semi-detached cottages, set amongst the trees, all within walking distance of the hotel which offers an extensive breakfast, included in the price of your holiday. There is a track down from the hotel and cabins to the other facilities in the resort, a stunning walk of around 30-40 minutes but there are several free buses throughout the day should you prefer. Every cabin has its own veranda and sleeps up to four (2 adults and 2 children), although we do recommend this for couples due to space. They comprise a living area with small sofabed and fireplace, kitchenette, twin bedroom, bathroom including a private sauna. The bathroom and sauna were renovated in 2014. There is a minimum stay of 3 nights in the cabins.
Fell Top Cottages
On the very top of Iso-Syote fell there are 16 wooden cottages with not surprisingly, the best views of all, looking out over the entire area. These two storey cottages are built to a high specification in magnificent natural surrounds and can accommodate up to eight. On the ground floor there is a living room with fireplace, armchairs and a sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen (with cooker, fridge, dishwasher, oven, microwave, coffeemaker etc), a dining area, one double bedroom and private facilities - shower, WC and sauna plus a drying cabinet. On the first floor there are two further bedrooms (each with twin beds), a loft and a second bathroom. For those travelling as a group, two of these cottages have been built with interconnecting doors meaning they can be used as a 6-bed property but even if your group isn’t as large as this, these cottages are ideal for a friends and family getaway. There is a minimum stay of 3 nights in the cottages.
Eagles View Suite
A unique and luxurious hotel suite located on the south corner of the hotel with magnificent views over the surrounding forest and beyond. The walls and even the roof are made of glass offering chances to see the northern lights from your own private jacuzzi. This spacious suite is split on two floors. On the ground floor there is the living room with comfortable seating area, cosy fireplace and bathroom with private sauna. A tree is growing in the middle of the room and continues upwards to the second floor with branches holding the nest where the bed is located. Also here is the jacuzzi where you overlook the scenery and can admire the beautiful landscape and clear skies.
Aurora View Suites
Hotel Iso-Syöte have introduced new Aurora View Suites which are in the main building and split on two floors with a panoramic window for star and aurora viewing. It comprises of a bedroom on the top level and seating area with sofa bed on the first level, suitable for younger children. It also has a private sauna, jacuzzi on the balcony and two bathrooms.
Facilities & Activities
Iso-Syote has direct access to fifteen pistes with many of the slopes illuminated at night. Although the terrain is best suited to beginners and intermediate skiers with straight smooth runs from top to bottom, more advanced skiers will enjoy the opportunities in the powder fields through the trees. The constant subzero temperatures that are the norm through the winter here, stop the snow from melting and keep it light and powdery for weeks, sometimes months on end, which is good news for snowboard fans! The ski resort is fully open from mid-December and if you travel earlier in the season the slopes are open at weekends (depending on snow conditions). All ski facilities are available to book locally and not available to pre-book.
As well as skiing, Iso-Syote also offers a range of excursions, from husky sledding, reindeer safari, snowmobile excursions and trips to view the incredible dance of the northern lights, so there is plenty to keep you busy on this popular winter holiday.
The hotel recently introduced an Arctic Spa, a facility offered to guests to relax and revitalise after a day in the snow. There are two spacious saunas, hydrojets in the swimming pool and outside on the terrace are two hot tubs with fantastic views of the valley. They also offer a full range of body and beauty treatments at an additional price and available to book at the hotel reception.
Being centrally located between three airports - Rovaniemi (2.5 hours transfer time); Oulu (2 hours) and Kuusamo (1 hour), means a greater choice of flights connecting through Helsinki.
