A 24-unit lodge on a spectacular 2,400 hectare nature reserve, the Arthurs Pass Wilderness Lodge was only built in this rising mountain setting in 1996.
Designed to blend in with its surroundings of native beech forest, tussock grass and streams and lakes, the hotel focuses on the activities available in the area, offering a daily program of complimentary, guided excursions.
Dining at the lodge is set in the cosy Mt Rolleston Restaurant, where the mountains of the park provide a magnificent backdrop to the superb food and wine that is offered. A 'table of the house' menu is offered for evening meals, which changes nightly and provides two choices for each course along with a vegetarian option. Specialties of the house include the lodge's highly-praised lamb, along with a selection of New Zealand's best fish, meats, fruit and vegetables.
The hotel offers guests the choice of Mountain View Rooms or Luxurious Alpine Lodges and each offers magnificent views and a range of amenities. All include en suite facilities, tea/coffee maker and private balcony, while the Alpine Lodges also include a spa bath, a kitchenette and a cosy gas fire. The Mountain View Rooms are ideal for a couple or 2 sharing adults with one child under 12, while the Lodges can room a couple or 2 adults only and are not available for children. The Lodges are ideal for guests looking to treat themselves while on an anniversary, honeymoon or a long-stay holiday. Please note that none of the units include a TV or radio.
A minimum stay of 2 nights is recommended to allow guests to relax and enjoy the schedule of high country activities.
