Type: Farmstay

Grade: Standard

Introduction

This 1,000 acre working farm of 2,800 sheep, 500 deer, 150 cattle and 3 sheep dogs is a comfortable homestead with 3 rooms for guests seeking to experience rural New Zealand.

Built from local Rimu trees, the homestead is a great place to meet real New Zealanders, while a tennis court on site keeps guests busy after touring the nearby fossil forest or penguin and dolphin-rich shores. Only a five-minute drive from the old fishing settlement of Waikawa, this farmstay is a friendly and conveniently set place to spend a few days.

The hotel offers only three rooms, all with en suite facilities. The Wineberry Suite is a self-contained room with King-size bed and mini-kitchen, with under-floor heading in the bathroom and a private entrance set amongst a collection of native flowers, trees and shrubs. The Rhodo Room is a Queen/Twin room with an extra single bed, heated tile floor in the en suite and a separate entrance onto the garden. Finally, the Odell Room is slightly smaller, with a Queen-size bed and views overlooking the garden and Catlins forest beyond.

Although there is no restaurant on site, breakfast is served daily, with fresh fruit, home-made preserves and a traditional cooked meal.
