Type: Luxury lodge

Grade: Superior

Introduction

Set in 5 acres of manicured gardens and native forest, this 3-room lodge has towering kauri trees, native birds, streams and glow-worms in deep forest grottos.

Seven kilometres from the bustling beachside town of Whangamata and set in the heart of the rural Wentworth Valley, the region is bursting with outdoor activities, bush walks, golf-courses and bird watching opportunities.

The lodge's newly created Garden-Bathroom is home to an outdoor double-slipper bath set near the lily pond and the hotel offers plenty of space in which to relax and watch the native bird life, including kingfishers, tuis, bellbirds and wood pigeons.

The Nickel Strausse restaurant allows guests to savour the perfect combination of flavours and textures to create the ultimate dining experience. Here, European cuisine is matched with superb New Zealand wines to create a gourmet dining experience.

All suites are equipped with a TV, hairdryer, free WiFi, an electric or open fireplace and tea and coffee making facilities. The Garden and Kauri Suites are rustic and elegant and include a spacious private deck leading to the garden-park.
