This 20-day itinerary makes use of the best campsites in truly great locations as well as some motel accommodation to allow for little practicalities en route. Itinerary & Accommodation

Day 1: Arrive Auckland
Today you will be met on arrival. The remainder of the day is free to relax and recover from your international flight.
Overnight: Sudima Hotel, Auckland airport
Day 2: Auckland-Coromandel (169km)
Take the courtesy shuttle to the Motorhome depot for a thorough briefing, collection and orientation of your vehicle. A stop is recommended at the airport supermarket where you can stock up with supplies before heading south. Take a leisurely drive to the picturesque town of Coromandel this afternoon.
Overnight: Shelley Beach Top Ten Holiday Park.
Day 3: Coromandel-Waihi (120km)
Enjoy the natural beauty of the Coromandel with its wonderful bush walks, unspoiled white sand beaches and quirky arts and crafts. Here you can swim, kayak, go sailing or simply relax. A visit to Hot Water Beach is recommended.
Overnight: Beachaven Holiday Park
Day 4: Waihi-Rotorua (115km)
Travel inland to the geo-thermal heartland of Rotorua and enjoy a guided Maori World experience and visit to Ohinemutu Village. The holiday park where you'll be staying has onsite thermal pools that you will be able to use during your stay.
Overnight: Rotorua Thermal Holiday Park.
Day 5: Rotorua-Lake Taupo (80km)
Spend the morning enjoying Rotorua and its many attractions before driving to Lake Taupo and your overnight stay. Here you can enjoy sheltered park-like grounds, surrounded by 3000 acres of farmland and an abundance of bird life.
Overnight: Great Lake Holiday Park
Day 6: Lake Taupo-Napier (141km)
Drive to Napier today and spend the afternoon enjoying this beautiful Art Deco seaside town, right in the heart of the Hawke's Bay wine producing region. Tonight you'll stay in a centrally located motel.
Overnight: Bella Vista Motel Napier.
Day 7: Napier-Wellington (315km)
Spend a relaxing morning in Napier before heading to Wellington in the afternoon.
Overnight: Capital Gateway Motor Inn & Caravan Park.
Day 8: Wellington
Explore New Zealand's lively capital or venture beyond the city to discover the boutique wineries of Wairarapa. A visit to Te Papa, the acclaimed national museum is highly recommended.
Overnight: Capital Gateway Motor Inn & Caravan Park.
Day 9: Wellington-Picton-Nelson (135km)
Today take a journey with your Motorhome by Interislander ferry across the magnificent Cook Strait, through the scenic Marlborough Sounds to Picton. On arrival make your way to Nelson for a two night stay.
Overnight: Tahuna Beach Holiday Park.
Day 10: Nelson
Spend today exploring the stunning Abel Tasman National Park where lush native forests meet golden beaches and water taxis are the only form of transport between its many wonderful bays and coves.

Day 11: Nelson-Hokitika (325km)
Journey down the ruggedly beautiful West Coast to Hokitika.

Day 12: Hokitika-Franz Josef (134km)
Head south following the coast to Franz Josef township near to the sweeping glacier of the same name for your two night stay.

Enjoy a day exploring this region of rainforests, snow-clad peaks and the vast expanse of the majestic Franz Josef Glacier right on your doorstep. You may like to take an optional heli-hiking or guided glacier walking tour or simply relax in wonderful surroundings.

Day 14: Franz Josef-Queenstown (350km)
Enjoy a stunning drive today as you journey on to Queenstown for a 2-night stay in this beautiful alpine lakeside town renowned for its stunning scenery and choice of adventure activities. Tonight you'll stay in a motel in the heart of Queenstown.

Today drive to Te Anau, the gateway to Fiordland National Park for a 2-night stay. An evening tour of the glow worm caves is highly recommended.

Leave your motorhome in Te Anau today and travel by coach to Milford Sound where you can enjoy a guided nature cruise on this majestic fiord. There is plenty of time available to enjoy the stunning scenery, including waterfalls, rainforests and towering peaks.

Day 18: Te Anau-Dunedin (298km)
Head east to Dunedin and spend the afternoon exploring this town where historic architecture and stunning nature co-exist. Your overnight stay is located adjacent to wonderful St Kilda beach.

Day 19: Dunedin-Christchurch (363km)
Drive to Christchurch today and drop off your motorhome. Enjoy some time in the city of Christchurch and explore some of its sights including the Botanical Gardens, museums and art galleries.
