Itinerary & Accommodation
- Day 1: fly from South Africa to St Helena
- Depart Johannesburg for St Helena. On arrival in St Helena you will be met and transferred to your accommodation for the next seven nights.
- Day 2: St Helena Adventure Tour
The ideal introduction to the island, today you will join a guided 4WD excursion to explore the wild side of St Helena. Enjoy an up close and personal immersion into the island's incredible landscapes, from sheer volcanic rock formations to lush green countryside.

- Day 3: explore St Helena
Today you will collect your rental vehicle so you can start your own exploration of the island.
- Day 4: wildlife cruise and Jamestown
This morning make your way to Jamestown Harbour to take a cruise in search of marine wildlife. Look out for whale sharks and devil rays (January-March), humpback whales (August-November) and a variety of species of dolphins (can be seen year round). Pelagic birds circle overhead whilst from the comfort of the MV Enchanted Isle you can appreciate the remoteness and rugged beauty of the island of St Helena.
The remainder of the day is at leisure to explore the town - climb the 699 steps of Jacob's Ladder, visit the fascinating Museum of St Helena or take a gentle hike to the beautiful Heart-shaped Waterfall at the top of James Valley.
- Day 5: explore St Helena
The next few days are at your leisure for independent exploration of St Helena. Your hosts will be able to provide recommendations depending on your own personal interests. Highlights may include visiting Napoleon's Longwood House (entry fee not included, pre-booking essential), his tomb, and Briars Pavilion.
- Day 6: explore St Helena
Today you may wish to visit some of St Helena's other historic sites of interest including the Boer Cemetery, High Knoll Fort and Plantation House, home to Jonathan, the world's oldest tortoise!
- Day 7: explore St Helena
Once you've finished delving into St Helena's history, spend some time immersing yourself in the island's spectacular landscapes. Perhaps stretch your legs on one of the 'Post Box Walks', so-called because each of the 21 trails has a postbox at the end, containing an ink-stamp and a visitors' book. Search for the rare and elusive wirebird on Deadwood Plain or tackle the heights of Diana's Peak National Park for breathtaking views across the island.
- Day 8: return to South Africa
Your adventure in St Helena ends today with a transfer back to the airport in time for your flight to Johannesburg.

- On the second Saturday of each month SA Airlink operate a scheduled flight from St Helena to Ascension Island. The flight returns from Ascension Island to St Helena the next day, Sunday, and then leaves St Helena for Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon. Therefore if you fly to St Helena on the first Saturday of the month, you will require an 8-night stay on the island (from Saturday to Sunday), rather than the standard 7 nights outlined above (Saturday to Saturday).

Flying to St Helena from South Africa
St Helena's long-awaited airport welcomed its first scheduled flights in October 2017. SA Airlink are now operating a weekly schedule to the island from Johannesburg, flying via Windhoek.
Economy airfares start from around £730 per person including taxes.
The general free allowance for hold luggage on Airlink flights is 20Kg in Economy Class and 30Kg in Business Class per adult passenger.
In addition to the checked or hold baggage, passengers may carry the following cabin or hand baggage. Each piece should not exceed 8kg.
