This short break has it all - a stay in a spectacular Icehotel, the opportunity to experience a range of thrilling winter activities and a night at the Abisko Mountain Station in Abisko National Park, one of the best places in the world for northern lights viewings. As Lapland winter breaks go this one is pretty hard to beat!
Who for? Those looking for a winter break with a difference
Abisko National Park
On this 3 or 4-night winter break you’ll spend one night in Abisko National Park, regarded as one of the best locations in the world to observe the aurora borealis. A natural occurrence in the behaviour of the prevailing winds in the area means that cloud rarely forms, creating ideal conditions for auroral appearances.
This anomaly in cloud formation also makes Abisko one of the driest places in Sweden, even though it is close to some of the country's top ski resorts which are the amongst the wettest! This break includes a 1-night stay at Abisko Mountain Station, the only hotel located within the national park, and a short walking distance from the chairlift up to the Aurora Sky Station. More about the aurora »
Aurora Sky Station - see the northern lights!
A trip on the chairlift to the Aurora Sky Station is included in this holiday. Once at the summit, you can keep watch for the aurora from the large outside deck area or warm up inside by a log fire. As an optional extra, you can choose to upgrade and include a 4-course dinner at the summit. We thoroughly recommend this option as you’ll get to enjoy delicious home-cooked Swedish cuisine whilst keeping a look out for the lights through the station’s enormous picture windows.
Stay at the famous Icehotel
Your holiday also includes two or three nights at the Icehotel (depending on your chosen itinerary) where you'll have ample opportunity to experience some of the many optional activities such as husky sledging, reindeer and moose safaris, and snowmobiling, as well as further northern lights excursions.
Make the most of your time away by flying direct to Kiruna on our exclusive 3½ hour flight from London Heathrow. Once at the Icehotel, you’ll further benefit from our dedicated Discover the World representative who will be available throughout your stay.
On the dates of our direct flights from Heathrow to Kiruna, we hold a substantial number of rooms at the Icehotel and Abisko Mountain Station, ensuring that our clients always receive the best availability and choice of rooms.
