Type: Hotel

Grade: Standard

Exclusive to Discover the World in the UK, the Abisko Mountain Station is the only hotel located within Abisko National Park in the heart of Swedish Lapland.

Situated 195 km north of the Arctic Circle on the shores of Lake Torneträsk, Abisko National Park is famous for its natural beauty and the exceptionally high chances of seeing the northern lights. Well placed to enjoy the area's spectacular wilderness, the Abisko Mountain Station boasts spectacular views over Lake Torneträsk and the surrounding mountains.

With no light pollution and frequent cloudless skies, there is nothing to hinder auroral displays, and the peace and quiet of this area is the ideal atmosphere in which to look out for the northern lights. The hotel has giant picture windows to make the most of these panoramic views.

The en-suite accommodation is basic but comfortable and there is a restaurant for breakfast and dinner with a large outside terrace, allowing unbroken views of the northern sky. The lounge is cosy with its large fire and an ideal place to enjoy a warming drink after a chair lift ride up the mountain to the Aurora Sky Station. The chair lift station is approximately a 10-15 minute walk from the accommodation and Nature Visitor Centre, where you can find out more about the national park, is around 5 minute walk away.

The rooms can comfortably accommodate 2 adults in twin beds and a camp bed may be added for a child. There are no adjoining rooms, but the 2-bedroom nearby chalets are ideal for families who wish to stay together.
