This thrilling wilderness adventure is the perfect way to experience Lapland's great outdoors as you 'mush' your own team of huskies through the beautiful forests of Jukkasjarvi. Action packed throughout, you’ll enjoy snowmobiling and sleeping in a rustic wilderness lodge, before finishing with a night at the Icehotel. With luck you may even see the magical northern lights, completing what will already be an unforgettable adventure.
- Experience the thrill of mushing your own team of dogs
- Get a real sense of the wilderness out on the trail
- Snowmobile from the Musher's Lodge to the Icehotel
- Stay in the unique and breathtaking Icehotel
This holiday allows you to be more than a passenger as you experience the exhilaration of driving your own team of dogs through the snow covered forests of Swedish Lapland. The 'whoosh' of the sledge runners on snow and the panting of the ever-eager huskies are the only sounds you will hear across the beautiful, silent landscape. It is only when the sledge stops that the silence is broken by the sounds of the dogs eager to be on the move!
Whilst sledging, remember to be on the lookout for Arctic wildlife and the tell-tale signs of footprints in the snow - possibly even spot a moose! And at this latitude, when the skies are dark, keep your fingers crossed for an appearance of the northern lights.
Please note this holiday is not suitable for families with young children. Sledging days can prove demanding especially on arms and shoulders so these trips are unsuitable for children or those without a good general level of fitness. Our Lapland Specialists are on hand to discuss which trip might be best for you.

Itinerary & Accommodation
- 3-night Itinerary
Overview: on arrival you will transfer to the Mushers Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. The next morning you’ll have an introduction to the dogs and an expert briefing before setting off on the trails through crisp, sparkling wooded landscapes.
Day 1 Kiruna-Mushers Lodge fly direct from London Heathrow to Kiruna. Transfer to the Mushers Lodge. Before dinner you will head out on a short snowmobile excursion into the wilderness before heading back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2 Mushers Lodge-Wilderness Lodge after a briefing, set off through the forest. Alternate 'mushing' - either drive your own dog team or sit back and relax on the guide's sledge. Lunch is on the trail before an afternoon arrival at the Wilderness Lodge where a warming sauna may be enjoyed before dinner. Overnight stay in rooms and cabins.
Day 3 Wilderness Lodge-Icehotel harness the teams and again alternate the mushing between two. Head back out on the trail to the Mushers Lodge, arriving in time for lunch. Afterwards, travel to the Icehotel by minibus. You will arrive in time to take an optional excursion if you wish. Overnight in an Ice Room or warm room.
Day 4 Icehotel-Kiruna time at leisure to explore the Icehotel complex or perhaps take an optional excursion, before transferring to the airport for the flight back to the UK.
- 4-night Itinerary
Overview: on this trip participants are thrown in at the deep end - with an airport transfer by sledge to the Mushers Lodge. This time just as passengers! The longer trip also follows forest trails but extends to higher ground, weather permitting. As the longer trip spends an additional night at the Wilderness Lodge and obviously covers further and more varied ground, it is suited to participants with a higher level of fitness.
Day 1 Kiruna-Mushers Lodge fly direct from London Heathrow to Kiruna. Transfer by husky transfer to the Mushers Lodge, dinner and overnight stay.
Days 2-3 Mushers Lodge-Wilderness Lodge after a briefing, set off on a 2 day wilderness experience with lunch on the trail, overnighting at the Wilderness Lodge in rooms and cabins. Each person drives their own team of huskies.
Day 4 Wilderness Lodge-Icehotel harness the teams and get back out onto the trail to the Mushers Lodge in time for lunch. Afterwards, head off to the Icehotel by snowmobile (twin share) in time to take an optional excursion if you wish. Overnight in an Ice Room or warm room.
Day 5 Icehotel-Kiruna time at leisure before transferring to the airport for the flight back to the UK.

Accommodation OptionsWilderness Lodge
This is 'home' for one or two nights depending on your chosen trip. The overnight accommodation is bunk-bed style, in shared rooms or cabins. It's pretty rustic with no electricity supply but thankfully it's heated! There are basic washroom facilities, a wood sauna and an outside toilet. Staying out in the wilderness, away from any light pollution, is a great opportunity to see the northern lights, so be on the look out. More about the aurora »
On the penultimate day of the trip, say farewell to the dogs and exchange paw power for horsepower, arriving in style at the Icehotel by snowmobile. In contrast to the Wilderness Lodge, the Icehotel is a magnificent construction and an architectural marvel. The final night will be spent at the Icehotel after you’ve had a guided tour and perhaps a warming vodka cocktail in the icebar.
